Halseyon Days River Cruise - North
Halseyon Days river cruise going north from Leicester marina.
4 Hour Cruise
We leave the Leicester Marina mooring and, after a short time, pass through our first lock at Thurmaston. We sail alongside the Watermead Country Park and reach the outskirts of Syston, home of the famous “Pukka Pie” factory! We pass the Hope and Anchor pub, past Junction Boatyard, and then gradually turn at the Wreake End junction.
We’ll go through Junction Lock and wind our way through the countryside until we arrive very near to Cossington Lock. Our turn for home will be made either here or at Rothley Brook, river conditions dependent.
5 Hour Cruise
This trip follows the route of the 4-hour trip, but hopefully there will be time to disembark or moor for a picnic near to the picturesque Cossington Mill, a Grade 2 listed building which milled corn in the 17th century. Alternatively, it may be possible to go further through Cossington Lock before turning near Rothley Brook, or on a weekday (not a bank Holiday) it could be possible to include a stop at The Hope & Anchor pub for lunch.
6 Hour Cruise
This trip follows the route of the 5-hour trip, but after passing through Cossington Lock we sail further towards Sileby. It is quite picturesque along this stretch which borders on the Cossington Meadows nature reserve. Our turn for home, river conditions dependent, would be made near Sileby lock.
7 Hour Cruise
This trip follows the route of the 6-hour trip, but there should be sufficient time to sail further towards Mountsorrel before turning for our return journey. On a weekday (not a Bank Holiday) there would be sufficient time to have lunch at the Waterside pub at Mountsorrel, or to moor for a picnic on the boat.
